May 2, 2013
Marussia Manor Racing’s 2013 challenge gets underway next week when the GP3 Series calendar kicks off in Barcelona, Spain, on 10-12 May.
Ready to do battle for the Team are Cypriot Tio Ellinas (21 years), Anglo-Italian Dino Zamparelli (20 years) and latest signing, Irish-Cypriot Ryan Cullen (22 years).
A key component of the Marussia F1 Team Young Driver Programme, Marussia Manor Racing is an important proving ground for the next generation of motorsport talent eager to prove that they have what it takes to progress to the highest level.
Ryan Cullen said: “Lining up on the grid in Spain next weekend will be a dream come true for me, but I am well aware that there is a lot of hard work ahead as I play catch-up with my new team-mates, Tio and Dino. There is a lot I can learn from them as I get up to speed and this is a fantastically supportive team, so I’m in the best possible hands to make my GP3 debut.”
John Booth, Team Principal, Marussia F1 Team (Young Driver Programme) commented: “Whilst our focus on the Marussia F1 Team’s ambitions in the Formula 1 World Championship is all-consuming, our involvement in the junior categories is a vital component of our racing programme. We are therefore very excited to see our 2013 GP3 Series challenge get underway next week in Spain and we will be keeping a close eye on our young drivers from the pit wall. We are particularly pleased to see Tio Ellinas back with us for a second successive season and eager to see what Dino and Ryan can achieve as they make their GP3 debuts.”
