Cullen to test EcoBoost power at Silverstone

Even though his own car is being prepared for the beginning of the season, Somerset’s 20-year-old rookie driver, Ryan Cullen, will be testing at Silverstone, as to gain experience behind the wheel of the new EcoBoost-powered Mygale car, in which he is set to compete this season. Race Car Consultants are fielding both an EcoBoost-powered and a Duratec-powered Mygale this season, but there are still continuing talks with other drivers at present to determine who will partner Cullen this season.

David Ellesley, Rae Car Consultants’ team owner, has sorted out with Ford to borrow the EcoBoost chassis from the manufacturer themselves, after the driver from Wedmore gets his baptism of fire at Brands Hatch on Wednesday, where the team will run their existing Duratec car, before Friday sees the SDS-sponsored driver travel to Silverstone for a familiarization session with the new Mygale chassis.

Ellesley has also secured the services of Rob Elmer, a very experienced Formula Ford data engineer, who will be able to provide paramount assistance to the project itself, and with only having knowledge of karting, Cullen aspires to make himself known and create an impression. But until the new chassis for the team arrives later this month, they’ll be able to use the data from the session at Silverstone to help set a base for the rest of the season, and may be able to make some inroads before racing begins at Oulton Park on the 7th of April.
